Businesses and individuals of all kinds will need a professionally produced video at some point. They’re great for advertising and for showing things off for a start. When it comes time for you to need a video, it’s recommended that you go to a production company directly rather than hiring just anyone who claims to know what they’re doing. Here are 7 questions you can ask to make sure you get what you need.
1. How long have they been making videos?
Obviously the longer a company has been in the business the more professional you can expect them to be. Plenty of experience means that they will have plenty of knowledge and are more likely to be reliable.
2. Do they make the kind of video you want?
Different video companies can, and often do, specialize in different types of videos. If you want a professional marketing video then you shouldn’t go to a company that handles other kinds of videos. Do a little research on the prospective company, or just ask what they specialize in, if anything.
3. How creative are they?
Any video company needs to have creative people on staff. You need to know that you can trust them with your idea and that they can make something of it. You can find out how creative they are by asking for samples or, again, talking to them directly. Present them with your idea and ask what they would do with it.
4. What sectors do they have experience with?
This is similar to the first question, but different enough to warrant its own. Some companies are used to working with big companies. They might not be a good idea for the individual who has a small goal. The opposite might also happen; you might run into a group that works with smaller projects and aren’t used to handling a big one.
5. Do you like them?
Personal opinion means a lot and so you should trust your instincts. If you feel that a company is going to be hard to get along with, or if they practice things you aren’t comfortable with, then you should look elsewhere to save everyone trouble down the line.
6. How organized are they?
If a production company appears to be very unorganised then they are not a good fit for you and you should see if there are other ones available. A company that is all over the place is going to be slow to respond and might take longer than you’d like to deal with your project. Stick with companies that know what they’re doing and how to do it.
7.Will they help with video marketing?
If the video is one that needs to be marketed, such as an advertisement, then you need a company that can help with the marketing. Try and find a company who will advertise it for you (typically for a small fee) or at the very least will advise you on how to do it yourself.
Once you know what you want, and you have some prospective companies, take a look at each individual one before making a choice. That way you are bound to make the right one.
